Locked in an extremely tough division race in the über-competitive AL East, the Yankees have to maintain an unbreakable focus on the field and their performance. Not for a second should the players, nor the organization as whole even allow any outside stimuli distract them from the task at hand.
Gaga In The Clubhouse? The Yankees Have Their Priorities In Order
Enter Lady Gaga. Obviously.
A fuming Hal Steinbrenner informed Yankee Stadium executives that Lady Gaga is permanently banned from the team’s clubhouse after her boozy antics -- including swigging whiskey and repeatedly fondling her boobs -- during a visit to the house that Ruth built Friday night, sources told The Post.
That was Friday and, apparently, the ban caused such a kerfuffle that Brian Cashman, General Manager of the New York Yankees, actually had to make a statement clarifying Gaga’s official status as a guest in the clubhouse.
“She’s not banned,” New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman said on Sunday afternoon. “Celebrities aren’t banned. If Michael Jordan showed up here he would have access [to the clubhouse], but not after a loss.”
Fair point. But if, say, Michael Jordan were fondling his boobs in the clubhouse, would the rules change? Is Lady Gaga not due the same inalienable self-fondling rights as the rest of us?
Say what you will of the Kansas City Royals’ prospects for ever winning another World Series, but at least they never have to worry about stuff like this.
