Marvel at the Madness in Miami: Rays 9, Marlins 8, By the Numbers

Something fantastically bizarre happened in Miami last night. And, for once, that sentence is being written about a baseball game. Let’s examine the sheer madness that was Rays 9, Marlins 8 with some number-crunching.15,000: Number of vuvuzelas distributed to the fans at Sun Life Stadium.

100%: Probable percentage of Marlins PR staffers on the receiving end of glares from Marlins baseball personnel after a ninth inning mix-up over line-up order—partially blamed on the vuvuzelas—resulted in an walk that was called an out and the ejection of Fredi Gonzalez.

1: Number of blown saves recorded by Rafael Soriano.

0: Combined number of hits, runs, and walks allowed by Rafael Soriano in two innings of work. Oh, and he struck out three batters.
