Given all the controversies about World Cup officiating this year -- the debacle in the U.S.-Slovenia game perhaps the most prominent among them -- you might think that the top referee would have something to say about it. And he does. Sort of.
FIFA ‘Very Satisfied’ With World Cup Officiating?
↵↵FIFA’s head of refereeing is “very, very satisfied” with the performance of World Cup match officials, despite widespread criticism of some decisions. ...
↵“FIFA is proud of having good referees from all the confederations,” the Spanish official said. “The level of all these referees is very, very high.”
↵↵Jose-Marcia Garcia-Aranda went on to say the federation is also satisfied with the way BP has responded to the disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, the fairness of Iranian elections and the last season of Heroes.
↵All of it makes you wonder what would make FIFA dissatisfied with officiating. It’s almost too frightening to consider.
