ATP No. 1 and Wimbledon No. 2 seed Rafael Nadal won his first round match easily over Japanese wildcard Kei Nishikori by the score of 6-2, 6-4, 6-4.

Nadal was only broken once in the match, in the sixth game of the third set. He immediately broke Nishikori back in the next game to regain his break advantage.
Nadal’s flattened-out backhand did most of the damage for him, as he buzzed winner after winner cross-court over the lowest part of the net.
