Via the AJC’s David O’Brien, the Braves have issued the following response to Wednesday’s rumors about Fredi Gonzalez succeeding Bobby Cox in Atlanta:

Got this from GM Frank Wren after this morning's developments vis-a-vis Fredi Gonzalez: "As I have said from the beginning of the season, we won't comment on the manager situation till after Bobby has managed his last game with us. As it pertains to Fredi Gonzalez, in light of what happened this morning, we all have high regard for Fredi but we won't have any further comment."
It’s exactly the sort of statement you’d expect, and it doesn’t actually say anything, but the ‘high regard’ bit will presumably fan the flames.
