Freeway Series Again One-Way Series As Angels Best Dodgers, 6-3

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Howie Kendrick went 3-for-4 and drove in the game-winning run during a two-out rally in the seventh, and the Angels continued their dominance of the cross-town rival Dodgers, 6-3, in the latest installment of the "Freeway Series."

Bobby Abreu added a three-run homer for the Angels, who have clinched the season series by winning their fourth straight game over the Dodgers. Kevin Frandsen had a two-run triple in the club's 14th win in 19 games.

Ervin Santana (7-5) earned the win after allowing three runs on eight hits and two walks while fanning six in seven frames. Brian Fuentes picked up his 11th save of the season.

Matt Kemp hit a solo homer for the Dodgers, losers of five straight and eight of 10. Clayton Kershaw (7-4) went six scoreless innings before giving up five in the seventh -- finishing with a line of 6 2/3 innings pitched, six hits and three walks while fanning six.

Kershaw had a three-decision win streak snapped, losing for the first time since May 25.

With the game tied, 3-3, entering the bottom of the seventh, the Angels recovered from a costly mistake to take their first lead.

Juan Rivera led off the inning with a double and moved to third on a balk with one out; however, Rivera was picked off third when catcher Russell Martin fired to the base.

The Halos were able to rally, though, as Jeff Mathis and Brandon Wood both singled to put runners on the corners and end Kershaw's outing. Ronald Belisario wasn't able to strand the runners, as Kendrick put a ground ball through the infield's right side for an RBI single and a 4-3 lead.

Frandsen followed with a two-run triple to extend the Angels’ advantage to 6-3.

The Dodgers put their first two batters on base in the eighth off Fernando Rodney, but Wood made a diving stop to start a 6-4-3 double play off a sharp grounder from Kemp. Blake DeWitt lined out to center to end the inning.

Fuentes pitched around a leadoff single in the ninth to seal the win.

The Dodgers grabbed the lead in the third. Jamey Carroll singled with one out, stole second and moved to third when the throw to second went awry. Martin, who was at-bat during the play, walked, and Andre Ethier followed with an RBI single.

After Manny Ramirez struck out, James Loney's RBI single made it 2-0. Kemp's solo shot in the fourth extended the Dodgers' lead to three.

The Angels, though, erased the deficit with one swing of the bat. Wood led off the fifth with a five-pitch walk, and Kendrick followed him with a base hit. Two batters later, Abreu launched a 2-1 fastball over the wall in center for a tie game.

The Dodgers are just 2-8 in interleague play...The Angels have won 17 of the last 24 in this series...Dodgers shortstop Rafael Furcal missed his fifth consecutive game due to the death of his father...Mathis has a 13-game hitting streak...When Santana goes seven innings, he is 38-6 in his career...Rodney was ejected from the game following the eighth inning.
