What is it with Oklahoma and the rain? In their opening College World Series game, they had to wait over four hours for it to get underway because of the wet stuff and then had another rain delay in the sixth inning. In their next game, they had to bring it to a halt in the sixth inning last night and wait until today to resume it. What did those Sooners to do mother nature?
2010 College World Series: Rain Finally Gives Way, Clemson, Oklahoma To Resume
The rain did little to stop the Sooners in their first game as they walked away 4-3 winners over South Carolina, but their game to be resumed today isn’t going as well. Oklahoma came into Omaha a very hot team, having defeated a very good Virginia team on the road in the Super Regionals, but they will resume their game today in the sixth inning down 6-1 to Clemson, a team as hot as anyone right now.
An up and down regular season got to the Tigers a bit, but Clemson has turned it up to a nother level in the postseason. They went to Auburn and won that Regional, returned home to beat Alabama in the Super Regionals and then took down the number one national seed, Arizona St., in their opening College World Series game. Toss the numbers aside because the Tigers have been a completely different team in the postseason and are rolling.
How the last innings of the Clemson/Oklahoma match-up will be interesting. The loser of the game will have to play in an elimination game tomorrow and if they win that, again on Friday and if they win that, again on Saturday. That can take some oomph out of any pitching staff so the final innings of this game are crucial. Luckily for Clemson, they get to start with a 6-1 advantage.
