Caroline Wozniacki has advanced to the fourth round of Wimbledon with a straight sets victory over No. 29 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, 7-5, 6-4.

Wozniacki has something of a cakewalk to the semifinals now, with the only remaining seed left in her quarter being No. 31 Alexandra Dulgheru.
Pavlyuchenkova showed flashes of the shot-making that I thought would win her the match, but she negated those brilliant patches with maddeningly unforced errors, especially at the business end of each set.
If both Wozniacki and Pavlyuchenkova were playing their best tennis, Pavlyuchenkova would have won. That’s just the way Wozniacki plays. She counts on inconsistency from her opponent, and if it comes in sufficient doses, she wins.
It’s not the most impressive style of play to behold, but it’s gotten her to No. 3 in the WTA. And her draw is such that she should easily live up to that seeding at this tournament.
But I would not give her the slightest chance against Serena, Sharapova, or even Li.
