Video: Miroslav Klose Does It Again, Scores First of Two German Goals on England

Miroslav Klose leads all players at this World Cup in career goals scored in the tournament. His 12th, which came on a delightful bit of touch on a long ball in the 20th minute against England, ties him with Pele for fourth on the the all-time World Cup scoring list.

And it gave Germany a 1-0 lead on the Three Lions. Klose nearly doubled with a shot in the box in the 30th minute, and Lukas Podolski did double it with an angled shot in the 32nd. Die Mannschaft’s creativity is likely to continue and Germany will probably win going away, but England’s painfully anemic attack waking up would certainly make this a more competitive round of 16 match.

Update: And in the 37th minute, a Matthew Upson header pulled back a goal for England, and a Frank Lampard shot from range rattled off the crossbar, was not called a goal, and was clearly fully over the line on replay. So England’s awake, I’d say.
