Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz came out of his Saturday start early with what was being called a hyperextended left knee. However, further investigation has revealed something entirely different:
Clay Buchholz’s Injury Is A Minor Hamstring Tear, Not A Hyperextended Knee
His knee injury is actually a minor lower hamstring tear. The Sox can avoid putting him on the DL but still give him nine days off by using the days off to delay his next start until July 6. This does not seem like a major concern.
The good news for Boston is that Buchholz doesn’t appear to be seriously hurt. Still, in a race such as the one in which they’re involved, every game is big, so even one missed start for Buchholz would put them at a disadvantage.
