Hollywood Royalty Invades Royals Game, Will Ferrell Harasses Bruce Chen
The part of this video with Paul Rudd, Rob Riggle, and Jason Sudeikis talking about their baseball memories and throwing out the first pitch—they’re all in town for a poker tournament to benefit a children’s hospital—is funny and cute.
Then Will Ferrell shows up, and starts yelling “COME ON, CHEN!” at pitcher Bruce Chen. He proceeds to basically improvise the rest of the interview (“I’m on my way to Branson, to do my one-man show ... called America’s BACK! It’s about a guy with a back tattoo of the American flag.”) and make the top of the second maybe the most enjoyable half-inning on a Royals broadcast this year.
And then they returned for the bottom of the second.
There’s one more half-inning on YouTube—it includes an explanation for why Gene Lamont is the Darth Vader of baseball, a remix of the Imperial March, and an impromptu serenade of Chen—after the jump, too. For one night, it wasn’t totally awful to be a Royals fan. (They even won!)
