Packers’ Brandon Underwood Investigated in Connection With Alleged Sexual Assault

You would think, after the world of trouble Ben Roethlisberger has gotten himself into with sexual assault allegations, that NFL players would stay far, far away from from situations that could even be misconstrued as possible rapes. You’d be wrong when it comes to Brandon Underwood.

⇥⇥⇥Police are investigating a member of the Green Bay Packers in connection with an alleged sexual assault of two women Saturday morning at a condo in Lake Delton.⇥⇥⇥⇥⇥⇥Three sources familiar with the case told the Journal Sentinel second-year cornerback Brandon Underwood is that player.⇥⇥⇥

⇥⇥⇥⇥⇥⇥⇥⇥Police said seven Packers were at a condo where a party was taking place and where the two women said the assaults occurred.⇥⇥⇥

⇥⇥⇥⇥⇥⇥⇥⇥Six Packers were interviewed and released, but police are focusing on the seventh player, who told investigators that the contact with the two women was consensual, said Sgt. Gerald Grimsled of the Lake Delton Police Department.⇥⇥⇥

Certain people are already hunting for home cooking in the case, which, unlike Roethlisberger’s dalliance in Georgia, puts a player in a police investigation near where he plays his games. There’s not enough information to even charge Underwood yet, so looking for a police conspiracy seems premature at best, but the Journal-Sentinel also mentions that other players anonymously told the paper Underwood had been a problem since being drafted in 2009.I wouldn’t be surprised if Underwood isn’t a Packer for much longer; he’s far less important (11 tackles last season) to Green Bay than Roethlisberger is to Pittsburgh, or than Eric Foster is to Indianapolis, and I suspect the Packers might be more sensitive to allegations of sexual misconduct after Mark Chmura’s sordid trial.
