Highly touted heavyweight prospect Christian Morecraft has been signed by the UFC according to MMA Fight Council:
Christian Morecraft Signed By UFC, Will Clash With Stefan Struve At UFC 117
The MMA Fight Council (www.MMAFightCouncil.com) just learned this afternoon that Christian Morecraft, the Cage Fighting Xtreme (www.cagefx.com)) Heavy Weight Champion has been signed to a four fight deal by the UFC. This information came directly from a representative of Contact Sports Agency (CSA), Morecraft’s Management team, who can be reached at linda@cagefx.com for any comments or further information.
As friends of CFX, we were at their May 28, 2010 show, and witnessed Morecraft’s impressive victory to win the belt, and could not be more proud to see a local fighter as deserving as he is, living his dream.
As it goes with such lofty goals, Morecraft will have no easy or warm up fight! He will be tested by fire in his UFC debut, where he will face “The Skyscraper” Stefan Struve at UFC 117 in Oakland, California. While his contract with the UFC is signed, the bout agreements are expected to be signed tomorrow.
Struve remains a talented prospect despite a pair of crushing losses to Roy Nelson and Junior dos Santos. He’s also familiar with the “UFC jitters” and has a lot more experience than the 6-0 Morecraft. Much of the fight will come down to if Struve has finally learned to use his height correctly. If he allows Morecraft to get inside with ease (the same problem that cost him against Nelson and Dos Santos) he could be in for a long night. If he learns to use his length to dictate where the fight takes place he will be the one in control.
Here are some videos of Morecraft’s regional fights:
