Hall and Oates To Arizona Diamondbacks: “I Can’t Go For That”
↵
↵Sorry, it was either that or a “Say It Isn’t So” gag. ↵↵Anyway, 70s and 80s pop stars Hall & Oates were scheduled to perform a concert on July 2 at Chase Field following the Arizona Diamondbacks game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. No longer, however, as Hall and Oates have pulled out citing objection to Arizona’s immigration law. In case there are any hard feelings, the duo just wants you to know there’s nothing personal, Diamondbacks.↵
↵↵⇥“In addition to our personal convictions, we are standing in solidarity with the music community in our boycott of performing in Arizona at this time. We would like to emphasize that this has nothing to do with the management of the Arizona Diamondbacks, who have been professional and cooperative throughout our dealings with them. This is our response to a very specific action of the state.”↵↵↵By now, we all know of the Phoenix Suns symbolic protest against the law by wearing the “Los Suns” jersey during their playoff game against the San Antonio Spurs. The Diamondbacks are granting tacit support to the cause by not voicing disappointment in the Hall and Oates pull-out. Said Diamondbacks CEO Derrick Hall in reaction to the news: “The cancelation of this post-game concert is another example of how controversial this issue is.” Of course, don’t expect new Cardinals kicker Jay Feely to join in the demonstrating any time soon.↵
