Chargers WR Vincent Jackson Suspended For Three Games

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson has two DUIs on his record as well as knowingly driving with a suspended license.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFL has suspended Jackson for three games for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

This discipline meshes with what other players have received for similar offenses. A few years ago, former Chiefs DE Jared Allen received two DUIs and was suspended four games before having it moved to two games.

Jackson is currently an unsigned restricted free agent. He’s reportedly willing to sit out the entire 2010 season if he doesn’t get a new contract. As of now, he’ll be involuntarily sitting out the first three games.

The possibility of the Chargers trading Jackson has been called a “long shot” and now it would even more unlikely considering he’s reportedly looking for a new contract similar to the four-year, $47.5 million extension signed by Brandon Marshall. Marshall was traded for two second round picks, which is approximately the market for Jackson so a trade doesn’t appear to be in the works despite several teams reportedly being interested.

Jackson will miss two road games against the Chiefs and Seahawks and a home game against the Jaguars. If the suspension stands at three games, he’ll return for week four against the Cardinals.
