Titans quarterback Chris Simms was arrested early Thursday morning for driving while high on marijuana with his 8-months pregnant wife in the front passenger seat while in the West Village neighborhood of New York City. Prosecutor Lauren Perry said during Simms’ arraignment that he had told cops when pulled over that he was smoking weed in the car earlier.

↵With no drugs actually found on Simms or in the car, the quarterback’s attorney is pulling the ol’ cigarette defense.
↵↵“My client never admitted to smoking marijuana that night. He said he was smoking cigarettes that night,” said Simms’ attorney, Nathan Semmel, who revealed that two other unnamed passengers were in the car at some point during the evening.
↵“The DA should investigate whether those two individuals were responsible for the marijuana odor.”
↵↵Smoking cigarettes in front of a pregnant woman? Chris Simms just went from reckless stoner to negligent father. Way to go! Besides, who wants to be the guy ferrying around a pregnant woman and his two high friends?
