Report: Derek Fisher Leaning Toward Returning To Lakers

According to Yahoo! Sports, a source close to Lakers veteran guard Derek Fisher said that the free-agent guard will re-sign with the Lakers in the coming weeks.

There have been rumors that Fisher might join the Miami Heat, but according to Yahoo sources, the Lakers will offer Fisher $2.5 million to stay for the 2010-11 season. And while that's not quite the two-year deal worth $5 million that Fisher has reportedly been seeking, it's more than the veteran's minimum, which is all the Miami Heat could offer.

And really: Derek Fisher may be the immortal fly in the greater NBA’s ointment, but he’s the Lakers’ fly. Save for that weird year in Utah and his stint in Golden State, D-Fish has always been and will always be a Los Angeles Laker.

For him to fade into the sunset with anyone else would just be wrong.
