Game Puts First New Heat Reference on Wax With “M.I.A.”

Hey, hip-hop fans: remember that guy who was running around with 50 Cent in the middle of the last decade, talking about bringing the West Coast back? Well, now he’s just making generic music that isn’t notable except for the first reference to the Miami Heat’s terrific trio. “M.I.A.” is riddled with NSFW lyrics, but the reference is in the hook, which leads off the song, and you can safely cut it off after about 15 seconds and miss nothing worth hearing:

↵↵In case you didn’t catch that:↵

↵↵⇥⇥I keep three heats on me, 45, Glock, and the gauge
↵⇥⇥LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and D Wade
↵⇥⇥Any n---a try to stunt, get sprayed
↵⇥⇥What happened to the body? N---a M.I.A.↵↵That isn’t particularly clever or well-executed—that hook is just generic thug-rap with an unimaginative flip on the Heat and MIA—but that’s par for Jayceon Taylor’s course. His career has been about reading off ledgers and rattling off his Blackberry contacts, real or imagined, for years. (His open hatred of Jay-Z has made that relationship look like a dachshund barking at a St. Bernard.) ↵↵But he does get credit for the first mention I’ve heard putting James, Bosh, and Wade together. And even though last week brought Clipse member Pusha T and bon vivant Cam’ron (NSFW lyrics at both YouTube links) dropping on-point references to LeBron’s free agency and Drake making a less specific reference to “seats to these Heat games.“ Game has earned his musical equivalent of “FIRST!” here, and the modicum of credit that goes with it.↵

↵↵I just hope he can spend that credit on getting Detox out. It’s not like a Game album is going to sell in 2010.↵
