Beyond Project 2010: SBNation Soccer’s Plan To Host And Win The 2022 World Cup

The 2010 World Cup has come and gone, and although the United States' men's national team continues to make strides, they have fallen short of the lofty goals developed in 1998, when Carlos Queiroz's Q-Report inspired a plan that would become known as Project 2010. That plan, which prescribed measures to make the U.S. a threat to win the 2010 World Cup, came up short, begging the question: Where does the U.S. go from here?

In a collaborative effort from the SB Nation soccer community, a new set of ideas has been crafted with one goal in mind: hosting and winning the 2022 World Cup. With a series of eleven ideas, SBNation’s bloggers seek to address the next steps for the national team, increasing professionalism and the quality of the domestic leagues, enhancing the amateur systems and more.

The series, which will be released through the soccer community’s blogs, starts today with a preamble from RSL Soapbox, outlining the vision of the project:

SBNation Soccer Community's Plan For U.S. Soccer: XI for '22

I. A Preamble - RSL Soapbox’s introduction to the new plan for U.S. Soccer
