Jonathan Babineaux Felony Pot Charge Reduced

Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux had a felony charge for marijuana possession reduced on Monday after pleading no contest. The charge was reduced to three misdemeanor counts of possession, resulting in 12 months of probation and a $1,500 fine.

Babineaux was arrested in December during a traffic stop in Georgia, where he was caught with an ounce and a half of marijuana in his car.

He still likely faces disciplinary action from the NFL, but they may be less severe with lesser charges being handed down by authorities. Considered one the Falcons’ best defenders, Babineaux posted career highs in tackles and sacks in 2009.
