Carl Edwards, Kurt Busch Differ On Blame For Postrace Clash

Carl Edwards sought out Kurt Busch after the race to try and ask why Busch hit him as the Coke Zero 400 ended.

But to hear Busch tell it, it was Edwards who was at fault.

Edwards said he was coming to the finish line and Busch “for some reason just turned left and hit me.”

“I don’t know if he didn’t know I was there or if he did it on purpose, but it seems like he was just frustrated,” Edwards said. “We all get frustrated when we have a bad day, so I’m sure it’ll be no big deal.”

Busch, on the other hand, said “Carl turned right after the start-finish line and completely destroyed our car.”

“We’ve seen him turn right before and destroy a Penske car at Atlanta with my teammate Brad Keselowski,” Busch said. “It is what it is. We could have limped home in seventh and not damaged like that. That was unnecessary.”

According to witnesses, Edwards tried to confront Busch in the garage afterward but Busch didn’t want to engage Edwards in a discussion because there were cameras around.

“He didn’t want to talk, so that’s OK,” Edwards said. “He doesn’t have to talk. I just wanted to see what the deal was.”
