Veteran Kevin Millwood was supposed to be one of the Orioles' bigger trade chips. Instead, things haven't gone as planned, and the workhorse is taking a trip to the DL:
Kevin Millwood Hits The DL With Right Forearm Strain
As the Orioles expected might be the case, starter Kevin Millwood’s right forearm will require a trip to the disabled list.
Baltimore announced on Tuesday that Millwood had been placed on the 15-day DL with a strained right forearm.
On May 23rd, Millwood owned a 3.71 ERA with a 3.5 K/BB. Since then, he’s allowed 43 runs in 39.2 innings over eight starts, with a K/BB of 1.5. His latest effort lasted all of one inning, and the Orioles decided to take this opportunity to give him a break.
Millwood will be eligible to return towards the end of July, so he may still end up traded to some team in search of a veteran presence. However, his trade value is now almost completely shot.
