Jake Peavy Will Officially Undergo Surgery, Miss Rest Of Season

Jake Peavy and the White Sox both feared and expected that Peavy’s 2010 season would be over. On Friday, it’s been confirmed.

White Sox pitcher Jake Peavy said Friday he will undergo surgery next week to repair a detachment of the latissimus dorsi muscle in his back and will miss the rest of the season.
Peavy, who said the surgery would be performed Wednesday at Rush Presbyterian hospital in Chicago, vowed to pitch again.

Peavy’s career doesn’t appear to be at risk, and he’ll only be 29 by the time spring training starts next year. In the meantime, the White Sox must focus on finding an edge in the tight AL Central. For more on the Sox, head on over to South Side Sox.
