“[UFC matchmaker] Joe Silva’s going to have him back,” Gurgel said.
Though he remains in the UFC, Hazelett will be making a career move in the form of a cut to lightweight.
“He’s actually dropping to 155lbs. again, and I think it’s going to be a good move for him,” Gurgel said.
Hazelett previously competed at 155lbs. against Diego Saraiva at UFC 67. Hazelett won the match via unanimous decision.
Dustin Hazelett Dropping To Lightweight After UFC 117 Loss
- Heavy.com reports that following his second straight loss Dustin Hazelett will be dropping to lightweight.
Dustin is a guy who needs to change something up. Paul Daley blasted him with some level of quickness in their bout and then Rick Story put on a violent display in finishing Dustin in the second round at UFC 117.
I’ve always thought that Hazelett has a game that is too reliant on his flashy jiu jitsu. When he can’t get the fight to the ground he is in way more trouble than most men who compete at this level. His submission game is also quite overrated, he has the ability to finish people but he is a lot more flash than substance. I don’t mean to sound too negative, he is a very talented guy and he could well go on to do some big things. At 155 pounds his height could really turn him into a force.
