While other NFL players are limiting their preparations for a possible work stoppage after this coming season to perhaps saving a quarter of their 2010 salary, as the players union has advised, Brandon Marshall would prefer to grab a few headlines with his plans.
Brandon Marshall’s Questionable Lockout Contingency Plan: The NBA
↵Yes, Marshall has said he’s planning to play in the NBA in 2011 if there is no NFL season. He said either the Miami Heat or the Denver Nuggets would be the lucky recipients of his one-year services.
↵Of course, the prospect of an NBA lockout looms just as strongly as an NFL one, but let’s not fight this. We’ll leave the nasty detractions to his present head coach in Miami.
↵↵News of Marshall’s plans surprised the Dolphins, but didn’t worry them either. Told about Marshall’s lockout gameplan, Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said, “I’ve seen him jump -- he’s not playing basketball.”
↵↵Well then. I guess we know who’s not getting a jump ball in the endzone when the Dolphins are inside the 20 this season.
↵And has anyone checked with Antonio Gates yet? He seems a more likely candidate for a temporary jaunt to the NBA than this guy.
