After sustaining a torn ACL this week, Braves third baseman Chipper Jones put retirement fears to rest by stating he would attempt to play again in 2011. There was more good news for the Braves on Saturday, as the scheduled surgery to repair Jones’ ACL was successful. From the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Dave O’Brien:
Chipper Jones’ ACL Surgery ‘Went Very Well’
Chipper Jones underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Saturday morning, his agent B.B. Abbott said.
“It went very well,” Abbott said in a text message from Piedmont Hospital.
Interestingly, the surgery was performed by the same surgeon who operated on Jones’ ACL in 1994. Jones, who turns 39 next April, plans on being ready for spring training in 2011.
