Former Barcelona, Hull Midfielder Geovanni To Join San Jose Earthquakes

The tremor that every other MLS franchise just felt was the news of the San Jose Earthquakes agreeing to terms with former FC Barcelona and Hull City midfielder Geovanni. He becomes the franchises first-ever Designated Player.

The Brazilian attacking midfielder arrived in San Jose on Sunday evening to meet with team officials. After passing a physical Monday morning, he met again with Quakes general manager John Doyle to finalize the details of his contract. Per team policy, the terms were not disclosed.

The 30-year-old had recently been released by Hull after the team was relegated from the Premier League last year. He led the Tigers’ in scoring with eight goals.
