The 17-year-old and the Nationals finalized contract terms shortly before tonight’s midnight deadline.
Specific details of Harper’s contract aren’t yet known, but based on what we do know, Harper likely got a major league contract with a signing bonus somewhere in the neighborhood of Stephen Strasburg’s $7.5 million from a year ago. By signing the deal, Harper instantly becomes one of the top prospects in baseball, and he should make an immediate impact in the minor leagues whenever he reports.
