Like Stephen Strasburg, Harper got a Major League contract, but his money doesn’t quite match up to Strasburg’s $7.5 million bonus or $15.1 million total value.
A Major League contract means that Harper is placed immediately on the Nationals’ 40-man roster. These deals are typically given to players that teams expect to rise quickly through the system. The confidence is most definitely there that Harper’s bat will have little trouble adjusting to the professional ranks.
