Boston’s outfield on Opening Day featured J.D. Drew, Jacoby Ellsbury, and Mike Cameron. Cameron, however, missed the fifth game of the season while Ellsbury missed the seventh, and the two have combined for just 66 appearances all year. And it appears the number will stay that way - yesterday, the rest of Ellsbury’s season was put in doubt, and today, the same now goes for Cameron.
Mike Cameron’s Season Probably Over Due To Abdominal Tear
BOSTON -- Boston Red Sox outfielder Mike Cameron, who has played in only 48 of the team’s 120 games this season because of an abdominal tear and additional complications, said Tuesday night that he does not expect to play again the rest of the season.
Cameron has been dealing with an abdomen injury, as well as a hip flexor injury and a groin strain, and his body just hasn’t dealt with the obstacles the way Cameron and the team had hoped. The focus has turned to getting Cameron back in good health for spring training.
