Terrell Owens and the Cincinnati Bengals offense will try to keep up their promising preseason form on Friday night, when the wideout and his latest team meet Owens' old buddies the Philadelphia Eagles at Paul Brown Stadium.
After struggling offensively in a Hall of Fame Game loss to the Dallas Cowboys, the Bengals looked much crisper in last Sunday night's 33-24 win over the Denver Broncos.
Cincinnati quarterback Carson Palmer was a razor-sharp 12-of-15 passing for 105 yards, with Owens coming through with four catches totaling 23 yards before exiting.
The ex-49er, Cowboy, Eagle, and Bill wasn't the only Bengals newcomer to make an impact in the victory, as rookies Jordan Shipley (5 receptions, 50 yards) and tight end Jermaine Gresham (3 receptions, 37 yards) also made their presence felt.
Owens had a memorable 22-game stint with the Eagles in 2004-05, though he has faced Andy Reid and Co. several times since leaving the organization in disgrace midway through the 2005 season.
On the injury front for the Bengals, defensive end Robert Geathers (foot) and fullback Fui Vakapuna (shoulder) will not play for Cincinnati, but 2009 first- round tackle Andre Smith (foot) could be in action for the first time this year.
Philadelphia, meanwhile, will be looking for more positive signs out of quarterbacks Kevin Kolb and Michael Vick, who helped engineer a 28-27 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday night.
Kolb was 6-of-11 for 95 yards against the Jags, while Vick was 11-of-17 for 119 yards with an interception and a 10-yard touchdown run. Kolb and the first-team are expected to play about a half on Friday.
Among the Birds that won't be in uniform are offensive lineman Todd Herremans (foot), Jamaal Jackson (knee) and Nick Cole (knee). Cornerback Asante Samuel (hamstring) and running back Mike Bell (calf) are questionable, and running back J.J. Arrington (knee) is expected to be in a Philadelphia uniform for the first time after missing the Jacksonville game.
The Eagles hold a 5-4 edge in their all-time preseason series with the Bengals, breaking a deadlock in the series with a 27-17 home victory in the last such meeting, prior to the 2005 season.
The franchises last met in regular season play during the 2008 season, a game that resulted in a 13-13 tie at Paul Brown Stadium.
