Fedor Emelianenko v. Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva In The Works?

MMA Junkie says Fedor Emelianenko’s camp is considering a bout with “Bigfoot” Silva:

While speculation on Emelianenko’s next opponent has centered around current heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem or a rematch with Fabricio Werdum, the source said a contest with Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva (14-2 MMA, 1-1 SF) on Dec. 4 is currently on the table for the Russian’s final fight on his current Strikeforce contract.

Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker would go on to verify that Silva is one of three opponents being considered by the Russian’s camp.

This would serve as a rebound fight from Fedor’s loss to Fabricio Werdum and in terms of the top contenders at Strikeforce probably represents the most easily “beatable” for Fedor. While a rematch with Fabricio Werdum or a bout with Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem are bigger, a win over Silva would get Fedor back on track and possibly allow everything to build to an even bigger fight.

SB Nation will have more news as it becomes available.
