Willie Mitchell Signs With Los Angeles Kings
General manager Dean Lombardi has signed defenseman Willie Mitchell. Helene Elliott of the LA Times is reporting that it's a two-year deal worth $7 million. As our Kings blog, Jewels From The Crown, points out, when you compare what the team has lost to what they've gained this offseason, things are actually in pretty good shape.
Sean O'Donnell and Alexander Frolov, out. Willie Mitchell and Alexei Ponikarovsky, in. That's an upgrade (watch Fro score 40 goals now).
Randy Jones and Raitis Ivanans, out. Jacob Muzzin and Kyle Clifford, in.
Teddy Purcell out, Brayden Schenn in.
Erik Ersberg out, Jonathan Bernier in.
With Mitchell out of the picture, the Capitals and Sharks are two notable teams that are still on the hunt for a defenseman.
