Denny Hamlin: I’m Cutting Back On Tweets

After being fined an undisclosed amount by NASCAR for comments he made on Twitter, Denny Hamlin says he’s been forced to cut back on his use of social media.

“I’d say half of the time that I was on there was discussing NASCAR stuff and whatnot,” he told reporters on Friday. “They really don’t want me going there, so I’m not going to go there. It’s just one of those things.”

Hamlin said last week that NASCAR indicated he was fined for a Twitter debate he had with SB Nation following the Nationwide race at Chicagoland.

Though the comments seemed relatively harmless to many, NASCAR deemed them “materially damaging” to the sport and fined Hamlin a reported $50,000.

“I’m still part of that (Twitter) stuff, but obviously with getting a fine and everything, you’ve got to be a little more careful,” he said.
