Ford Attempts To Hit Up Rally Car Fans By Linking Ken Block, NASCAR

If you’re a diehard NASCAR fan, your first question about this blog might be: Who the hell is Ken Block?

That’s exactly what Ford wants you to find out, while at the same time enlightening Block’s fans who might wonder What’s so great about NASCAR?

Block is one of the top American rally car drivers – and also one of the most popular. His Facebook page has nearly 500,000 “likes.” His “Gymkhana” videos have developed a rabid following (the latest one debuts Tuesday).

But until now, there hasn’t been much crossover between Block’s fans and NASCAR fans.

Ford is trying to change that. Block, who drives a Ford Fiesta, is featured in a new series of webisodes that also include AJ Allmendinger and Richard Petty.

The campaign serves several purposes. Among them: Getting Block’s fans to check out NASCAR, hoping NASCAR fans learn about Block and enticing Mustang or F-150 lovers to look into the Fiesta.

Below is Ford’s first webisode (a national ad campaign for the 43Fiestas.com site debuted during the Richmond race). It gives you an idea of what the campaign is all about (and the video is pretty sweet).
