Francisco Rodriguez Charged With Criminal Contempt After Sending Girlfriend 56 Text Messages

Just when you thought you might’ve heard the last of the whole Francisco Rodriguez/girlfriend’s father saga, something new comes up. Rodriguez was in court Tuesday morning for a routine hearing on his assault and harassment charges, and it was in his hearing that prosecutors revealed a new twist:

Authorities said Rodriguez sent his girlfriend 56 text messages from Aug. 19 to Sept 7 apologizing and urging a resolution. They said he’ll now be charged with criminal contempt.

Rodriguez will be arrested and re-arraigned on this new charge sometime between now and his next scheduled court appearance on October 7th. Though his texts don’t contain any threats or harsh language, they nevertheless violated an order of protection.

Prosecutors attempted to have Rodriguez put in jail following his hearing, but were unsuccessful.
