Francisco Rodriguez Officially Charged With Criminal Contempt; Released On Bail

Wednesday morning, Francisco Rodriguez found himself back in the courtroom. What was he doing there?

Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez was charged Wednesday with seven counts of criminal contempt for sending his girlfriend dozens of text messages begging for forgiveness, violating a restraining order issued after he was accused of attacking her father at Citi Field.

Rodriguez paid bail and left without comment. A new restraining order, effective through at least next February, was issued to protect Rodriguez’s girlfriend and family from further contact.
