Photo Of The Day: Brooks Laich Keeps It Pretty Real
Today, we’re celebrating Brooks Laich of the Washington Capitals. For two reasons. First, because we haven’t done a hockey series yet, and training camps have gotten underway around the league this week. And second, because I was at the Sneakerball last night, where the attire was black tie, and everyone was extra fashion-conscious. But Brooks?
When asked about his outfit, he responded, “Honestly, I was just hanging out when my buddy called me and said I’m coming to get you in five minutes. So I jumped in the shower, threw this on, and here I am.” ... Proof, once again, that hockey players are just awesome.
So who’s up for some gratuitous shots of hockey in mid-September? It was either this or a gallery from the WNBA Finals.
Here he is pushing over a carefully stacked collection of pucks for warm-ups. Like knocking over a bunch of dominoes. Ahhhh... I bet that was satisfying.
And now, he goes horizontal to make a play, because that’s what hockey players do sometimes:
Cue awesome camera angle that always makes hockey look cool. Plus: GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL.
There’s a wide variety of celebrations he could go for after that one. Could go solo...
Could jump into a teammate’s arms...
Or they could all go for the rarely seen on-ice pileup...
In any case, this photo’s probably my favorite of the bunch.
Just awesome. Click on any image to enlarge, and all photos via Getty Images.
