On Thursday afternoon, I asked for Chase predictions on Twitter and was met with mostly silence.
Poll: What Should NASCAR Do With The Chase?
↵I was confused. Was Twitter down? Did everyone suddenly go on vacation? What was the deal?
↵When I asked why fans weren’t responding, many said they simply didn’t care about the Chase.
↵That’s troubling, since this should theoretically be the most exciting part of the season. For other sports, everything leads up to the playoffs and the championship. The hype builds all year long (as do the ratings and interest).
↵In NASCAR, it seems the excitement and hype peaks in the first race – the Daytona 500 – and goes downhill.
↵When I asked fans for a solution to spark their interest, many indicated they believe the Chase hasn’t worked. I remain a Chase supporter and believe a playoff is good for NASCAR in a time when the sport would otherwise be completely lost among the football headlines.
↵Let’s put some numbers to the debate, though, and see what you think.
