NCAA Rules Marcell Dareus Must Miss Two Games For Contacting Agent

Alabama defensive lineman Marcell Dareus has been forced to miss two games and repay $1,781.17 of benefits before he will be eligible to play again, according to a ruling by the NCAA student-athlete reinstatement staff.

A release from the NCAA stated that Alabama submitted that Dareus received benefits included airfare, lodging, meals and transportation during two trips to Miami. The decision follows an investigation into whether Dareus had contact with an agent, which goes against NCAA rules.

The staff cited mitigating circumstances for the violation as the reason that it did not impose a potential four-game suspension.
