Notre Dame Has Been Dealt With: Definitive Breakdown Of Michigan State’s Fake Field Goal

Saturday night, Michigan State beat Notre Dame with a fake field goal in overtime, 34-31. It was everything a fan could ask for: gutsy, dramatic, amazing ... and after time had run out? The ESPN game clock clearly reads double-zero just before the ball is snapped; seemingly just as quickly as the Spartans shocked the Irish, the message-board style debate began, complete with screengrabs of playclocks and frame-by-frame breakdowns.

Was Notre Dame robbed of a win? Did Michigan State receive an extra second or two at the end? How excellent was this headline? Finally, thanks to EDSBS commenter Bubbaprog, we have the answer, via his frame-by-frame breakdown at 30fps.

The Big East has already said the officials made the correct call. And no, it’s not reviewable. So, yeah, deal with it.
