Saints Vs. 49ers: Delanie Walker Coughs It Up Just As 49ers Nearly Captured Lead Before Half
The 49ers have mostly controlled the second quarter of the Monday night game against the Saints. Were it not for two turnovers on the Saints side of the field, the 49ers could have a commanding halftime lead. Instead, they will go into the locker room trailing 9-7.
Tight end Delanie Walker, whose 21-yard reception to set up the 49ers first score prompted Jon Gruden to call him a “joker deluxe,” fumbled inside the Saints 20 as the 49ers were preparing to take the lead for the first time in the game inside the last two minutes of the first half.
The Saints took the ball back inside their own 5 with the 49ers holding all of their timeouts. But the Saints gained a first down to run out the remainder of the clock in the first half.
