Dennis Dixon Waiting On MRI After Leaving Steelers Game With Knee Injury

Steelers QB Dennis Dixon left Sunday's game against the Titans with some sort of knee injury. A MRI on Monday morning will reveal exactly what's wrong with his knee, if anything, and whether he'll be able to help the Steelers next week against the Bucs.

“Will I be ready next week? Yeah, I think I can. I planted wrong, it didn’t feel right after that,” said Dixon, who rushed for 28 yards on three carries and suffered the injury while running with the ball on his final series of the game. “If it’s something serious, I want to be able to rehab. But I don’t think it is.”

Mike Tomlin said in an emergency Dixon could have come back in to just hand the ball off every play and end the game so we’re not sure how severe it is. It’s a good sign that he’s still able to walk.

If he can't go next week, then the Steelers options include Charlie Batch, who finished Sunday's game when Dixon left, and Byron Leftwich, who is expected to be re-signed very soon after being released on Saturday to make room for another nose tackle.

For continuity’s sake, the Steelers probably want Dixon to start next Sunday. QB Ben Roethlisberger will be back in week six of the season. The Steelers beat the Titans even without Dixon.
