Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum released a statement through the team expressing disappointment in receiver Braylon Edwards after he was arrested for DWI early Tuesday morning.
Jets GM: ‘We Are Very Disappointed In Braylon Edwards’ After DWI Arrest
“We are very disappointed in Braylon’s actions this morning,” Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum said in a statement released by the team. “The Player Protect Program is in place for our organization to prevent this situation. Braylon is aware of this program and showed poor judgment.”
The Player Protect Program is funded by the Jets and is essentially a cab service for the players. Any time they have had too much to drink, or need a ride for any reason, they can call to have someone pick them up. The league has a similar program called the Safe Ride program.
So basically there was no excuse for Edwards to be driving.
