    Tests On Jim Edmonds Rule Out Achilles Tear

    Reds outfielder Jim Edmonds sounded pessimistic earlier when discussing his recent Achilles injury, but tests performed didn’t show a tear, which comes as a welcome relief. Edmonds may still not be able to return, as he remains very sore, but he’ll give his body a little while to feel better while wearing a protective boot, and will then re-evaluate the situation.

    Edmonds has been extremely limited in his time with the Reds. The team, though, would at least love to have his bat available off the bench in the playoffs.

    Jim Edmonds May Be Done For Season, Career With Achilles Injury

    Edmonds felt a pop as he was jogging, and though more won’t be known until medical test results are out, this doesn’t sound very good. Edmonds has previously indicated that he’s leaning towards retirement after 2010, and if he does indeed have a season-ending injury, he’ll close the book with 1949 hits and a career-ending home run.
