Hanley Ramirez’s 2010 Season May End Early Due To Sore Elbow

Recently, Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez missed four consecutive games due to soreness in his left elbow. He returned to go 1-4 Tuesday night, but was out of the lineup again on Wednesday and was seen icing his elbow in the clubhouse. Said manager Edwin Rodriguez:

He’s not OK,” Rodriguez said. “He came out after the game [on Tuesday] and said he was feeling worse. That’s not a good sign. Right now, he’s not in the lineup and we’ll see how everything develops after that.”

As seen in the picture above, Ramirez experienced discomfort while swinging, and with his elbow not getting any better, the team is prepared to play out the remainder of the season without him. With the Marlins at 75-75, they have no reason to push one of their stars beyond the limit.

Ramirez has batted .300 with an .853 OPS on the year. Ozzie Martinez has taken his place in the lineup for now. Read more on Ramirez and the Marlins over at Fish Stripes.
