Justin Upton Possibly Done For Year With Shoulder Injury

Diamondbacks outfielder Justin Upton injured his shoulder taking a swing on August 30th. It wasn't new discomfort, and the team predicted it would be a day-to-day injury, but Upton has since been able to make just eight trips to the plate, starting on September 13th and September 14th. So it should come as little surprise that the belief now is that Upton's probably done for the year.

The 23 year old is meeting with the famous Dr. James Andrews on Monday regarding his shoulder. A previous MRI, taken earlier in September, showed no major damage, but still the pain has lingered. And though the consensus opinion is that Upton should emerge just fine, the Diamondbacks have only a handful of games remaining in their 2010 schedule, so there’s no point in rushing things.

If Upton is indeed done, his season ends with a .273 average and 17 home runs. Get more on Upton and the DBacks over at AZ Snakepit.
