Our Lone Star Ball picks up on an update on Josh Hamilton from MLB.com Rangers beat writer T.R. Sullivan. Hamilton, who ran into the center field wall to make a catch on Saturday, has a bruised rib cage and will miss "an extended period of time," Sullivan writes.

But it sounds a little worse than the average run-in with the wall; Hamilton compared it to being in a car crash.
“Not the best,” Hamilton admitted. “I can’t say for sure but all signs point to not soon. It’s not good. I feel like I have been in a car wreck.”
Hamilton missed time in 2009 after a similar injury, and the current major league leader in batting average might well miss most or all of the rest of the regular season. There is no disabled list in September, as teams carry extended rosters, but the Rangers are eight games clear of the Oakland Athletics in the AL West and can likely sit Hamilton for much of this month, saving him for the playoffs.
