The accident happened in Colorado, just south of border with Wyoming,
“It’s a terrible tragedy and a terrible loss,” UW coach Dave Christensen said in a news statement released by UW. “Our focus now is helping our team and staff deal with this tragedy and making sure the families of the young men involved know that we are here to support them in any way we can.”
The other players injured were C.J. Morgan, who is still hospitalized, and Trey Fox and J.J. Quinlan, who have since been released from the hospital. Morgan is in fair condition, but KGWN is reporting that an unspecified player might lose his arm as a result of the crash.
The Colorado State patrol said the driver of the Toyota Tundra fell asleep; they don’t believe drugs or alcohol was involved.
