Obama’s Bracket: President’s Full 2011 NCAA Tournament Predictions

On Tuesday night, ESPN released just the Final Four portion of President Obama’s bracket, which featured all four NCAA Tournament No. 1-seeds winning their respective regions. He took some grief for it around the internet, but before we label Obama’s entire bracket as chalk, there are a few upsets reveled in his full March Madness predictions.

To wit!

-- Arizona over Texas in the round of 32. Sure, it’s just a five-seed over a four, but Texas is badly mis-seeded. The longhorns are No. 4 in Kenpom, while Arizona is 25th. Texas should be a one or two-seed.

-- UConn over San Diego State in the Sweet 16. This is a trending pick coming off the Huskies performance in the BIg East Tournament, but the numbers still favor SDST.

-- Richmond over Vanderbilt. President Obama makes his mandatory 12-beating-a-5 stand with the Spiders.

-- Gonzaga over St. John’s. The Zags actually rank higher in Kenpom, and St. John’s is without D.J. Kennedy, so this isn’t as big of an upset pick as the seeding suggests.

That’s about it. There are some other minor upset picks, but nothing noteworthy. And while the President’s Final Four selections are chalky, so too are most of the college basketball experts’ predictions.
